TRU sunday morning

WHAT IS TRU?

We are pleased to introduce you to , TRU, that we are using during the service with the PreK- 6th grade children. TRU is a large group/small group format curriculum and focuses on the BIG GOD STORY which helps students see the Bible chronologically.

WHAT IS THE BIG GOD STORY?

The Big God Story is a narrative with God as the focus– it puts all of the stories in chronological order in the Bible– so each Fall we will start with Genesis and end with Revelation! God is the main character in each of the stories with Moses, Abraham and Esther playing parts of the story in the Big God Story!

WHAT RESOURCES DOES TRU PROVIDE FOR FAMILIES?

TRU provides resources for families to be able start a discussion at home about the stories of the Bible. There is an app (highly recommended download) for phones called HOMEFRONT that gives ideas each week on how to incorporate discussion/activities at home that revolve around Sunday’s Bible story.

WHO IS TEACHING MY CHILD?

Our teachers are people of varying ages that are all committed to serving God and the families attending FHPC. Each teacher has been through training and has completed and passed a background check. There is also, generally, at least one person on our teaching staff that is trained in CPR, first aid and the AED.

Teacher schedules can be found here: Prek/K/1st 2nd/3rd 4th/5th/6th storyteller

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL SUNDAY LOOK LIKE FOR MY CHILD?

Families will begin by checking and receiving a name tag and claim card for each child at the welcome desk in the church lobby. They will then be directed into the service, where they will be invited to join Miss Ash up front for children's time. At the conclusion of children's time they will be dismissed about 10-15 minutes into the service to TRU in the lower level of the church. Upon arriving downstairs, they will participate in large group time for announcements, songs, opening activity and the story. Preschool is dismissed to their classroom before the story so that they can hear the story/activities, etc on their own level and have space to play. After the story is finished, they will have time to respond to the story through response stations set up aroud the main space. Once they have taken some individual response time, they will go to their age approrpriate classrooms to have discussion and an activity with their teacher and classmates. Upon finishing small group time, all ages will report back to the main space for wrap up activities, raffle drawing and blessing/prayer.

WHERE IS MY CHILD'S CLASSROOM?

Children's classrooms are located on the lower level of the church (follow signs). The PreK- 1st grade classrom is in room 27, 2nd/3rd grade classroom is room 23 and the 4th-6th grade classroom is in room 24. This class concludes at 10:45 a.m., but the children have the option to stay in the children's space to experience ENGAGE!!! Maps are located on the back on the claim tag you will receive at check in.
